The Lincoln Boole Foundation
LBF encourages citizens of Lincoln and the world to celebrate George Boole’s digital legacy -especially in 2014 & 2015, his binary bicentenary.
BOOLE IS COOL; he made THE DNA OF DIGITALITY
Boole first produced his binary logic in Lincoln, where he lived most of his life. It was set out in “The Mathematical Analysis of Logic”, published in 1847!
Efforts to get a statue to Lincoln’s most impressive boffin continue. Artist Laury Dizengremel has delivered her 3D ‘sketch’ of what the full-scale bronze might look like.
LINCOLN LEAPS TO LAUD BOOLE’S LOGIC!
last year, Lincoln finally broke cover to celebrate the Grandfather of digitality by installing a memorial plaque in a high-profile site in the city centre.
Positioned at the junction of Lincoln High Street and Silver Street, this is only metres from where Boole lived and was born. It is also in the middle of the pedestrianised city centre where thousands of visitors pass by. (Here, Deputy Mayor Chris Burke unveils the plaque.)
The memorial was unveiled on Boole’s 200th birthday, November 2nd 2015.
If you’re passing, take a snap and post it online -stick it on Twitter/Facebook et al. BigUp Boole to the world!

Well done Lincoln!

2/11/15 UPDATE!!! Google have doodled for George! -WELL DONE GOOGLE! So perhaps the long-standing plea below worked? If you did indeed contact Google on Boole’s behalf, well done you!
Please take a moment to contact Google at “email@example.com” and ask them (politely) to create a commemorative logo doodle for Boole’s 200th birthday 02/11/2015. They missed the 150th anniversary of his death last December and unfortunately have not so far acknowledged the grandfather of digitality on any previous birthdays to our knowledge. UPDATE: Why not contact them anyway to congratulate them and ask that they make it an annual thing.
LBF is always keen to encourage people to get involved. You can sign up, donate and become a Friend of the Foundation. You can help out in practical ways and become a member. If you live in Lincolnshire and have any ideas for digital-related events or projects in the Arts or Sciences, especially if they involve young people, the Foundation might be able to help publicise and otherwise support the project. Wherever you are in the world, we will publicise any suitable event or project which celebrates Boole’s legacy contact us!
